Cybersecurity Awareness Training
Tools: Synthesia, Google Docs, Canva
Target Audience: Employees in corporate environments
Project Overview: This cybersecurity awareness training video educates employees on recognizing and preventing common cyber threats. Created using Synthesia, the video covers phishing attacks, password security, multi-factor authentication, and best practices for safeguarding company data. The training is structured into 16 visually engaging scenes with concise text, animated icons, and clear narration to enhance learning and retention.
The Problem
Cyber threats are constantly evolving, and many workplace breaches start with preventable employee mistakes such as clicking phishing links or using weak passwords. The company needed a concise, engaging training tool to raise awareness and encourage proactive cybersecurity habits.
The Solution
I designed and developed a 14-scene cybersecurity awareness training video using Synthesia, tailored for a corporate audience. The course uses clear narration, engaging visuals, and animated icons to make complex concepts easy to understand. Topics included phishing detection, strong passwords, multi-factor authentication, and everyday security best practices.
Storyboarding the Course
I began by mapping out a logical flow — starting with why cybersecurity matters, then introducing common threats, prevention strategies, and finally reinforcing key takeaways. Each scene had concise on-screen text paired with narration to keep learners focused and avoid cognitive overload.
Development Process
Using Synthesia, I built each scene with a combination of:
- Animated icons for visual reinforcement
- Side-by-side comparisons (e.g., phishing email vs. safe email)
- Charts and timelines to illustrate the impact of breaches
- Thoughtful color choices and layouts for clarity and accessibility
Interactions & Engagement
To boost learner participation, I included interactive knowledge checks such as multiple-choice and true-or-false questions after critical lessons. Immediate feedback helped reinforce correct responses and address misconceptions.
Gathering Feedback & Iterations
After the first draft, I gathered feedback from the IT security team and HR stakeholders. Their input led to clearer phishing email examples, additional password tips, and simplified charts for better readability.
Final Outcome
The training was well-received, with employees demonstrating improved awareness of cybersecurity threats and applying prevention strategies in their daily tasks. Post-training discussions showed stronger engagement with security protocols, and managers reported fewer avoidable security mistakes in the weeks following completion.
